Congratulations to Jake on his recent promotion

Career development is a huge part of our company values here at A&C, which is why we’re delighted to announce that our Trainee Recruitment Consultant, Jake Cockburn, has been promoted to Recruitment Consultant.

We caught up with Jake and found out more about what he loves about working within the recruitment industry, his future plans and what he looks for in a perfect candidate.

Q: Firstly, well done on your promotion to Recruitment Consultant, Jake.  We presume you were delighted with the news?

A: Yes, I was over the moon, having worked at A&C for nine months, it’s great to be recognised for the hard work and commitment I’ve shown.

Q: What does your job involve on a day to day basis?

A: Speaking with candidates every day and matching them to their dream job role, whether that’s on a temporary or permanent basis, we have vacancies suitable for everyone.

Q: What do you love about working in the recruitment industry?

A: Every day is different, as I focus more on recruitment within the hospitality sector, it can be challenging, however, as I speak to new and exciting candidates each day, it also gives me a great insight into how the hospitality industry works.

Q: What have you enjoyed most since you joined A&C?

A: That’s definitely got to be the working environment, I feel lucky to be working in such a progressive company this early in my career.  Everyone is always striving and pushing themselves to improve and it’s a great atmosphere.

Q: Have you had a particular memorable moment since you joined A&C?

A: It was winning my first client.  I’ve loved promoting the business and gaining a new client for us was definitely a high point!

Q: What do you look for in a perfect candidate?

A: Their willingness to work.  You can always provide training to successful candidates to help them in their job roles, however, that willingness to work is something that comes naturally to certain people.

Q: What are your plans for the future?

A: I would love to progress further within the business and as we continue to grow within the Northumberland Scotland areas, I’ll be looking to build my reputation within those regions.

Q: What do you like to do to unwind?

A: I’m a Sunderland football fan and have a season ticket so a lot of weekends are spent cheering on my team, I also love going on city breaks and foreign holidays.
